WILLS & ESTATES, BANKRUPTCY, ASSET PROTECTION AND TAX MATTERS Legal Team
Meet the team
After earning my BS degree, I joined the United States Marine Corps in 1982 and became a Naval Aviator. As an unrestricted aviator, I flew both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, including the CH-53E Super Stallion. My military service included multiple overseas tours in Asia and service during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I also served as an intelligence officer for the Marine Corps air wing in a highly classified capacity. During my military service, I continued my education and earned graduate degrees in Management and Human Management and Development, graduating with highest honors.
In 1993, I began law school in Denver, Colorado, and completed my legal studies in 1996. Early in my legal career, I served as a law clerk to U.S. Magistrate Patricia Coan, where I gained valuable experience in federal court procedure, discovery, and complex litigation.
I later moved to Michigan, where I worked as a union business agent representing school teachers and other AFL-CIO-related interests. I became a member of the Michigan Bar and Florida Bar in 2000.
My commitment to public service continued when I served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida under Bill McCollum and later Pam Bondi. In that role, I handled complex litigation, with substantial work involving criminal and/or fraud-related matters. My government service gave me significant insight into high-level litigation strategy, investigation, enforcement, and courtroom advocacy.
